So yeah, today was ash wednesday, and i don't observe lent, cuz i figure that god doesn't want us to suffer, but i just figured that for the hell of it, this would be a perfect time to do the 'Iron Man Challenge'. Which is going 40 days without... having a man to hand relationship.
Dear Penis, I will miss you in these next 40 days (or 30, or 10, or 2 depending on how much self control i have) and i hope you will not be angry with me at the conclusion of this hard period.
Love, Tyler
Well now that thats, over with today was pretty cool i spose. Mass SUCKED and PE was fun until we lost when we were completely destroying at first (DAMMIT ERIN MY THROW WAS PERFECT! HOW DID YOU MISS IT!?!?!?!) but i digress, she got us half our points (cherry picking ftw) and it was fun. LOL every got hella into it, after class i was talking to Crystal in the hallway, and she says, "ok were you guys being hella loud at pe? cuz we randomly heard people yell 'GODDAMMIT!' and 'MOTHERFUCKER!' and we saw you guys playing out on the field, soo..." and me and moll started busting up.
Now for some profound ideas...
One think that has been prominent in my mind as of late, is the role that music plays in our lives. Not just our entertainment, but our psychology, our escape from every day life. Movies have often been billed as the way to escape the worries of life for an hour and a half or two hours. And while I do see them as a great escape, especially comedies, I think that music is a more effective escape. All music is helpful to physically drown out the noises of life, leaving you drifting in a pool of music and lyrics, free of any thoughts for the following few minutes. All music has the ability to do that, even the lowly Jonas Brothers. However, the great music is the music that has the ability to drown out all your worries and pull you in to the song, where your not even in your body anymore, but your sould has begun to inhabit the song itself. My example is my current favorite song, 'Black' by Pearl Jam, of their debut album Ten. The song starts of calm and collected, beginning a man's soliloquy about his lost lover. A loose, free form tune that is nearly void of any rhythm pulls you in at the first chorus, at Eddie Vedder's beautiful vocals begin to show themselves. After another verse, akin to the first, we get to the second chorus, where the singers pained, passionate voice pulls us in, and his subsequent: "All the love gone bad turned my world to black/Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be... yeah..." followed by the heart wrenching mournful declaration leaving us with goosebumps: "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,/ I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why/ Why, why can't it be, oh can't it be mine. Leading into an instrumental ending, with the haunting melody piercing our minds well after the song is over.
Props to Karen, for putting up with Moll, Arlena for putting up with me, and for loving my quotes, and for that status war WHICH I PWNED AT! (i have got to stop saying 'pwn') and a big WTF? to Jenna for breaking up with Matt, even though i guess i saw it coming, but she was just pessimistic about the relationship for the get go. PS. KAREN, i will be sure to kick some sense into moll next time i see him. and you have moved up from 11th fav, to 7th fave! YAY KAREN!
Today's music: Black by Pearl Jam (if that wasn't obvious enough) and rearviewmirror from the same band, as well as Born to Run, and Adam Raised a Caine by Bruce Springsteen, and The Doors eponymous debut, and i listened to Light My Fire off that album twice

movie review: Frost/Nixon
yeah so i just finished watching Frost/Nixon starring Michael Sheen and Frank Langella and directed by Ron Howard, and i decided that it would be fun to write a review, and i will do so for ever subsequent movie i watch.
I have never been one for political or journalistic thrillers, as i never saw the tension in them as i do in other thrillers, like the great Chinatown. However, Langella's embodiment of the late former president helps to create a dense portrait of the man himself. The fierce battle of words rages on, blow after devastating blow, and the tension mounts, as Frost's career hinging on the success of this broadcast.
Highly recommended.

day 2 (2/24/09)
well today was very very mundane. almost depressingly routine. the only significant part was that we didnt do anything 9th period. o wait. thats what we always do. god i detest the mind numbing routine that accompanies the insincere learning, horrible hours, and all around tediousness of school. i mean, i love to learn, i read random shit on wikipedia all the time, i can spend hours on there. but its only stuff i want to learn about. world history, spanish, pe, and english i can understand why there important. well, minus the essays were forced to write in english, i dont think im ever going to have my life depend on whether or not i can write a literary analysis of some random sonnet by shakespeare. at least my teachers cool. but i digress. chemisty, i dont plan on becoming a chemist. ever. and taking chemistry has further solidified that decision. if i ever have to know about stoichiometry, or colligative properties, i will bow down to my teacher, and be her little bitch for the remainder of my life. as for geometry, sines and cosines and tangents have no place in normal life. i guarantee that ten years from now i will have no idea what they are (ten minutes from now i prolly wont). so yeah i love reading books, i enjoy poetry, and i like learning, but forced learning takes the joy out of anything. i guess what im saying is that i dont necesarily enjoy learning , but i enjoy the freedom to learn.
I fucking love karen ly. she is my favorite full blooded asian person of all time.
